Yesterday, writer/director Matt Reeves took to Twitter to announced that character actor Peter Sarsgaard (The Killing, Jarhead, Knight & Day, K19: The Widowmaker) has landed an unknown in the upcoming production of The Batman.

It would be interesting to see who Peter is playing in the film as they’re casting Harvey Dent aka Two-Face along with various other roles.
However, a recent social media post might hold a clue and might rule-out Harvey Dent or Thomas Wayne.
Two days ago Peter’s wife, fellow actress Maggie Gyllenhall (The Dark Knight) posted an image of him in the middle of shaving his head on her Instagram account.
There are a couple of options with a character that is bald those including Hugo Strange, Calendar Man (a character from The Long Halloween) or Victor Zsasz (unlikely with the character being in Birds of Prey).
People have been making the assumption that The Batman could be a version of The Long Halloween where Alberto Falcone (John Turturro playing his father Carmine Falcone), Gilda Dent (Harvey’s wife), and Harvey Dent taking the persona of the Holiday Killer.
It would certainly line-up with talk that the film would be more of a crime/detective story.
Peter joins an impressive cast that includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne aka Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton aka The Riddler, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Jayme Lawson in an unknown role.
Filming takes place next year at the Warner Bros. Leavesden stage facility in Watford, England. A locale that has been previously used for the Harry Potter films, Justice League, Wonder Woman, and Wonder Woman 1984.
Warner Bros. has set the release date of The Batman for a prime summer slot on June 25th, 2021.
