Back in August, HN Entertainment reported a small Thor: Love and Thunder tidbit that Taika Waititi would be not only returning to the role of Korg, the lovable Kronan gladiator from Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame, but also would have a larger part in the fourth installment.
HN Entertainment has learned that Taika Waititi’s lovable rock dude Korg will not only be returning for Thor: Love and Thunder (previously hinted to at the Hall H presentation by Taika), but he’ll also have a much larger supporting role in the fourth film.
Well, one part of that scoop has been validated by writer/director Taika Waititi as he revealed on JimmyKimmelLive that he would be indeed returning the Korg part in the upcoming sequel.
WAITITI: “My character is coming back, Korg.” [audiences cheers]
“Thank you so much for that reaction. I’m overwhelmed.”
You can watch the exchange below.
This weekend Taika’s anti-hate film Jojo Rabbit opens in limited locations. He then begins shooting his follow-up Next Goal Wins, a sports film starring Michael Fassbender and Elisabeth Moss in Hawaii.
Filming on Thor: Love and Thunder is said to begin filming next August at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. As Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings will be shot first at the facility.
The cast includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman returning as Jane Foster/Lady Thor, and Taika as his motion-capture character Korg.
Marvel/Disney has set the release date of Thor: Love and Thunder for November 5th, 20201.
