A Russian website created for the joint venture of Walt Disney Studios and Sony Pictures teaming up for the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home has seemingly revealed a new synopsis (translated from Russian) for the film.
Peter Parker and his friends go on summer holidays to Europe. However, the friends will hardly be able to rest – Peter will have to agree to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of creatures that cause natural disasters and destruction throughout the continent.
The listing confirming that Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes aka The Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming is expected to make a return for the sequel. The Vulture’s return is something we expected and had been mentioned by trades like Variety but this seems like an official confirmation of sorts.
As we learned from CCXP last week, Peter Parker and Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck aka Mysterio will be working together as they’ve been recruited by Nick Fury to take down a group of villains named The Elementals. The espionage superhero film is seemingly taking cues from his animated roots as Spider-Man worked alongside Fury many times in the cartoons.
We’ll also see the introduction of Kraven The Hunter’s comic book half-brother Dmitri Smerdyakov aka The Chameleon played by Aladdin’s Numan Acar. It certainly feels like we could see an incarnation of the Sinister Six being set up here. There is unconfirmed chatter that Michael Mando’s Scorpion could be back too.
Sony Pictures has set Spider-Man: Far From Home release date for July 5th, 2019.
