Deadline has revealed that actor Aldis Hodge from Straight Outta Compton has landed a role in The Invisible Man. A remake of the classic Universal Monsters character, that originated from the novel by H.G. Wells.
Deadline has learned that Aldis Hodge, star of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning film Clemency, has landed a role in Blumhouse-Universal’s The Invisible Man which is inspired by the studio’s classic monster character.
Filming will take place in Australia next month.
Aldis will join previously announced cast members, Elisabeth Moss and Storm Reid.
The previous incarnation was going to be starring Johnny Depp before Universal Pictures pivoted (R.I.P Dark Universe) and handed the project to Blumhouse Productions instead. They then assigned Upgrade writer-director Leigh Whannell to revamp the project with his own version.
While researching a new drug, Dr. Jack Griffin stumbles on a potion that can make him invisible. When he reveals his new ability to his old mentor and his fiancée, it’s clear that a side effect of the potion is insanity. Jack goes on a violent rampage, and the police struggle to hunt him down, unable to see their target, while his mentor and his former partner desperately try to devise a plan to capture him.
From the looks of things, they might be going towards a family story here.
The Invisible Man is set for release by Universal Pictures on March 13th, 2020.
