As December 20th crawls closer, we have official confirmation from director J.J. Abrams regarding the run-time for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. According to the Abrams during an interview with SiriusXM 109, the final installment of the Skywalker Saga will be about two hours and 21 minutes. While this is still enough time for a quality story and conclusion, it’s also the exact same run-time as Star Wars: A New Hope which was released in 1977.
Whether this is intentional or not, it’ll be interesting to see how Abrams concludes such a beloved cinematic journey. For over four decades, fans all over the world have followed the adventures of the Skywalker family which hopefully is wrapped up in a satisfactory way. Regardless, the Star Wars franchise is having a great 2019 with the release of The Mandalorian and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Following the events of The Last Jedi, the remaining members of the Resistance face off with the First Order once again, all while reckoning with their troubled pasts. Now holding the knowledge and power of the previous generations, the final battle begins.
