‘Star Wars’ Comic Book Character Doctor Aphra Rumored To Appear In Future Disney+ Series

Our pal Jeremy over at StarWarsUnity has posted a new Star Wars rumor about upcoming Disney+ plans and suggests that comic book character Doctor Aphra could be showing up at some point on the streaming platform in some form.

I’ve learned that one of those mystery shows might involve Doctor Aphra. If you’re unfamiliar with her, she’s an insanely-popular character created for the new era of canon Marvel Star Wars comics. It’s not known if it’d be her on solo series, or if she’d be featured in a different series with other characters.

However, they’re not terribly sure if this would be Aphra simply appearing in a series or getting her own. So, this would certainly be under the rumor category for now.

Previously, Jeremy had suggested a post-Solo series could be in the works as well. Another rumor yet to pan-out or be confirmed.

We’re interested but certainly also cautious as well, given how quickly Lucasfilm changes their minds about projects in development and internal chatter has gone nowhere in the past.

The Mandalorian has seemingly won over a lot of franchise skeptics and has proven why they greenlight a second season so quickly (first reported by HN Entertainment).

Not to mention why Mandalorian director Deborah Chow (helmed the action-heavy Chapter 3 – The Sin) was hired to tackle the upcoming Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor, set to begin shooting in the summer of 2020.

Also shooting next year is the Cassian Andor prequel series starring Deigo Luna and will have episodes by Tony Gilroy, who tackled reshoots on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

We could see Disney/Lucasfilm amp-up the development of Star Wars series as seen with Marvel Studios has already announced eight shows and there are more rumored to be on the way.

Oddly enough, The Mandalorian episodes are reportedly costing Disney significantly less than the Marvel shows.

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently revealed to investors that there were many more Star Wars shows in the works beyond what they have officially announced.

HN Entertainment had previously revealed a list of shows that Disney/Lucasfilm was considering internally at one point back in February, we still don’t know if they’ll ultimately pursue those ideas either.
