IGN hosted a cast roundtable with actors from the upcoming Netflix action film Triple Frontier, which was originally going to be a Kathryn Bigelow film before it changed directors and studios. The film stars Oscar Isaac (Dune, Star Wars: Episode IX) and during the interview with the gaming website, they asked what video game movies they’d like to be part of and Oscar revealed that he’d love to play Snake in Sony’s Metal Gear Solid movie.
ISAAC: “Metal Gear Solid, I’m throwing my hat in the ring for that one.”
IGN: Who would you play?
ISAAC: “Snake, man.”
He also gave his take why maybe some of the video game films don’t exactly go over well with audiences.
ISAAC: “With the video game thing, I think the trick will be how do you replicate the feeling of what it feels like to play a video game. I think where it goes wrong often is with the plots.”
It’s interesting since his Ex Machina co-star Alicia Vikander did end up taking on an iconic video game character role with Lara Croft in the recent Tomb Raider movie, maybe that is what convinced him?
Metal Gear Solid director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) took to his Twitter account to reveal his excitement with the recent comments from Oscar and suggests while they haven’t started casting that Oscar certainly would have a strong shot. Jordan spent a good part of the summer promoting his vision for the live-action film with posting concept artwork he had commissioned himself and was trying to get Metal Gear fans to support his movie. Sony Pictures has yet to officially move forward with the film but with Oscar giving the project a bit of bump here it’s possible that the gears might move again.
To everyone asking how I feel about Oscar Isaac saying he wants to be Solid Snake.
The full process required to cast an icon hasn’t even started, but..
Ask @Bosslogic where the idea for his brilliant mock up came from.
