John Boyega has lined-up a new post-Skywalker Saga project as Variety reports that he will lead the Netflix thriller Rebel Ridge from writer/director Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room, Blue Ruin).
“Star Wars” actor John Boyega is set to star in Netflix’s “Rebel Ridge,” a thriller from “Green Room” writer-director Jeremy Saulnier, Variety has learned.
Similarly to Saulnier’s 2013 crime drama “Green Room,” his upcoming movie will be a high-velocity thriller that explores systemic American injustices through bone-breaking action sequences, suspense, and dark humor.
Boyega is best known for playing the role of Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga).
He also has tackled more serious films such as Kathryn Bigelow’s (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker) drama Detroit.
Jeremy previously worked with Netflix on the film Hold The Dark starring Jeffrey Wright (The Batman, Westworld, No Time To Die, Casino Royale) and Alexander Skarsgard (Mute, The Little Drummer Girl, The Northmen).
They’re comparing Rebel Ridge to Green Room which is a good sign as that film was fantastic and totally worth checking out as Patrick Stewart plays the main villain in it. It’s also one of the last films of the late actor Anton Yelchin.
