Deadline has word that actor Chris Pine (Star Trek, Wonder Woman) will topline a new non-stop action thriller titled Violence of Action, where Pine plays a black-ops operative in Eastern Europe that is in a survival mode as he’s being hunted after his first mission goes sideways.
After being involuntarily discharged from the Marines, James Reed (Pine) joins a paramilitary organization in order to support his family in the only way he knows how. Reed travels to Poland with his elite team on a black ops mission to investigate a mysterious threat. Barely into his first assignment, Reed finds himself alone and hunted in Eastern Europe, where he must fight to stay alive long enough to get home and uncover the true motives of those who betrayed him.
It will be directed by Tarik Saleh (The Nile Hilton Incident) from a script penned by screenwriter J.P. Davis.
They also add that production is expected to begin sometime this fall.
Pine has been juggling both blockbusters and more character-driven projects as well recently with more grounded roles such as in the Bravo series I Am The Night and the feature film thriller Hell or High Water.
A release date for Violence of Action has yet to be scheduled or announced.
