Sly Stallone has been saying for a while now that Rambo: Last Blood would be his final appearance as the character, Lionsgate is marketing the film on that as well.
After years of fighting, John Rambo is now living a quiet life as a ranch hand in Arizona and is thrust into the world of sex trafficking after a bunch of local girls are kidnapped by a ruthless cartel.
According to some early tracking via BoxOfficePro the film could make a little coin or have some issues getting asses in seats as the current range is between $10-20 million.
For comparison, 2008’s Rambo opened to about $18.2 million, so the range isn’t off, but would certainly be disappointing if it was on the lower end of that tracking.
The film’s budget would certainly play a role here as it doesn’t look like Millenium Films spent above $50 million, simply based on the trailer. Rambo’s budget back in 2008 was about $50 million but only earned about $113.2 million there is a chance the budget was scaled back slightly from that previous release.
Lionsgate has set Rambo: Last Blood for a release on September 20th.
Almost four decades after he drew first blood, Sylvester Stallone is back as one of the greatest action heroes of all time, John Rambo. Now, Rambo must confront his past and unearth his ruthless combat skills to exact revenge in a final mission. A deadly journey of vengeance, RAMBO: LAST BLOOD marks the last chapter of the legendary series.
