THE FOLLOWING WILL SPOIL MAJOR PARTS OF AVENGERS: ENDGAME AND IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE FILM IT MAY RUIN IT FOR YOU. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED THAT THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD…

While there is a lot that comes to an end with Avengers: Endgame that film seems to set up other things for the future as well. Here are a couple of things I noticed in the film that should echo into Phase 4, Disney+, and beyond.

SPIDER-MAN BECOMES AN INTERNATIONAL HERO FOR NICK FURY

In the wake of Avengers: Endgame, the Avengers will be broken up for the most part. With Tony and Natasha gone, Steve Rogers old, and Thor in outer space they’ll have to assemble a new version of The Avengers or at least it looks like Nick Fury will attempt to put a new team together in Spider-Man: Far From Home that could involve Quentin Beck aka Mysterio.

We’ll also see a Happy Hogan and Aunt May starting some sort of relationship. I’m also curious if we’ll see Peter Parker interacting with Pepper and Morgan.

THE BLACK WIDOW IS NOW LIKELY SET IN THE PAST

Because of the death of Natasha, it looks like we will indeed see the Black Widow movie take place in the past from where Endgame ends.

The casting details so far suggest that figures from her past will return and could have her face the people that made her along with the Red Room/Widow program. I get the impression we’ll be getting more of an action film here rather than some end of the world special effects spectacular.

However, if Gamora (also died for the soul stone) taught us anything about how time-travel works in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is a chance they could bring back Natasha just not by using the gauntlet.

SAM WILSON IS THE NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA

While they didn’t kill-off Steve Rogers they turned him into the old man version of Rogers as he hands over the mantle to Sam Wilson, who will become the next Captain America. Interesting enough, this could lead directly into the Winter Soldier and Falcon series on Disney+. It could also mean that if they make future Captain America movies we’ll see Anthony Mackie in that role with Sebastian Stan likely by his side, possibly taking up the White Wolf persona.

THOR JOINS THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY & GAMORA IS M.I.A.

Thor has now joined the Guardians and could most likely end up having a role to play in James Gunn’s Guardians of The Galaxy 3. Chris Hemsworth’s take on Thor has turned into more of a comedic superhero, so it makes a lot of sense that he’d try to go on adventures with them and hopefully will shed some pounds in the process.

Gamora being pulled out of her timeline would mean that she would need a lot of time to get comfortable with the group again, even more so going back to her relationship with Quill.

VALKYRIE IS NOW THE QUEEN OF NEW ASGARD

At the end of the film, we see Thor give the kingdom of Asgard to Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie making her the new Queen of New Asgard in Norway. This would suggest that “Thor 4” could actually be led by Valkyrie. Having a settlement of Asgardians on Earth could mean that the next film that Tessa was hinting to recently might be a version of the Seige storyline that could see them coming to odds with Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers as the humans possibly have some issues with aliens living in their backyard.

CAPTAIN MARVEL 2

While I suspect that we’ll end up seeing how Carol Danvers brokers a peace agreement between Hala and Xandar in a sequel to Captain Marvel. They’ve now established that she is now hanging around Earth and that there are many many more planets she is protecting/overseeing. I hope this mention by Danvers there are other places to protect suggests the sequel will be mostly off-world set in the past or the present time in the MCU post-Endgame.

I’d really like to see a bunch of new planets in the Captain Marvel sequel and with Marvel getting a bulk of their space characters/aliens back with the Fox acquisition they could easily incorporate some of that with her franchise.

WITH VISION DEAD HOW WILL WANDAVISION WORK?

For whatever reason, Vision didn’t come back to life after Bruce’s second snap. This could further explain that the series WandaVision will be a construct of Wanda’s imagination of what her perfect life with Vision would have been like.

There is a good chance the series could be very similar to I Love Lucy meets Legion.

LOKI SURVIVES TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY

One of the things that happens with the Avengers messing with the timeline they’ve allowed Loki to escape with the tesseract and possibly directly tied to the Loki series on Disney+ as he’s now able to do his own thing for a little longer and allows Tom Hiddleston to come back to the role for much longer than we had previously thought.

PROFESSOR HULK IS HERE TO STAY

Bruce Banner was able to combine Hulk and Banner into one persona between the snap and developing their time-traveling technology, it’ll be interesting to see how that works in the future and if that means we see more of him in the future. I’ll keep my fingers crossed he’ll visit Wakanda in Black Panther 2 as it seems like the Avengers are sort of over with.

KATE BISHOP, CASSIE LANG, & YOUNG AVENGERS

Clint Barton making it out alive would mean his Disney+ series with him mentoring Kate Bishop will take place after the events of this movie possibly making up for letting Natasha die. Having both Kate and an older version of Cassie Lang could mean that a version of Young Avengers could be on the horizon. Adding characters like Kamala Khan, American Chavez, Miles Morales, and others throughout other movies would make sense.

A-FORCE & SECRET WAR: While it was more of a shot moment, we got to see all the female superheroes for a scene at the end of the film and could end up leading to a female-led team-up film with those characters.

Also, it’s worth mentioning the sheer volume of characters on the big screen during the final battle sequence which could mean when the time comes the Russo Brothers really could give us a crazy project like Secret Wars, once the X-Men and Fantastic Four have been established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A NOD TO NAMOR/ATLANTIS?: There is also a potential Atlantis/Namor nod where Okoye mentions an Ocean quake during a briefing with Natasha, there could be some connection to the underwater kingdom there.

I think we have plenty to look forward to in the future and we’ll likely start hearing their official plans for Phase 4 once Spider-Man: Far From Home releases.
