Sony dropped the first official trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home at Brazil’s CCXP and have revealed some villain details during the panel. Taking a new direction for the character of Mysterio, who won’t exactly be his traditional comic book incarnation as a master of illusions or will he?
Brazilian outlet Omelete has posted a quote from the Spider-Man: Far From Home panel during CCXP 2019, where Tom Holland has revealed that Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck aka Mysterio will be teaming up with Spider-Man to fight a group of villains called The Elementals.
“There are these threats to the world, the Elementals, elemental creatures. And Mysterio is someone who knows about them and wants to make sure that the world is safe from them. And Nick Fury asks him to come on and help because he’s the only one who really understands them. And then he teams up with friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and unfortunately has to make him become more than a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man”
It wasn’t clarified if The Elementals will be the original incarnation (Hellfire, Hydron, Magnum, and Zephyr) or a version featuring Spider-Man villains. Mark Raxton aka Molten Man and Morris Bench Hydro-Man could be part of this group.
They failed to mention how Numan Acar’s Russian spy villain character Chameleon factors into all of this. Although, Nick Fury and Maria Hill have been confirmed.
A trailer is expected to drop online within the next two weeks and should give us our first glimpse of Jake as Mysterio.
Sony Pictures has given Spider-Man: Far From Home the release date of July 5th, 2019.
