Spider-Man: Far From Home has now reportedly crossed the billion-dollar mark at the global box office making it the first Spider-Man movie to hit that landmark and the second film from Sony Pictures after Skyfall.

The news comes via TheHollywoodReporter.

Sony and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Far From Home has swung past the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, becoming the first installment in the franchise to do so, not adjusted for inflation.

The success is easily due to the partnership between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, with Marvel making/casting the solo films and Sony tackling the marketing/distribution.

An announcement concerning Spider-Man 3 has yet to be officially made but there is an expectation that Sony will make their intentions clear in the coming months.

The third film would be the final installment in the original six-picture deal between Sony and Marvel for shared use of Spider-Man, which we expect to be extended considering the massive financial success Sony has seen from the partnership (which was spearheaded by Sony Japan).
