Today, it was officially announced from the from Avatar twitter account that veteran character actress Edie Falco, best known from The Sopranos and Nurse Jackie has landed a huge military role in James Cameron’s Avatar sequels. Falco will be playing General Ardmore, who likely will be a massive thorn in the side of our heroes in the next couple of movies and essentially one of the new villains.
It’s not terribly shocking that Cameron would give a meaty military role like this to an actress.
“We are thrilled to share that Edie Falco is joining the
#AvatarFamily as General Ardmore, the Commander in charge of the RDA’s interests in the Avatar Sequels!”

We are super excited to see some footage from Avatar 2 as they recently completed principal photography on the first two installments, as Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 are expected to ramp-up filming soon.
Edie will be joining Kate Winslet, Sam Worthington, Cliff Curtis, Zoe Salanda, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Oona Chaplin.
The original film earned a massive $2.8 billion and helped relaunch a new wave of 3D format that has helped boost ticket sales over the last ten years. It’ll be interesting if the next couple of films can replicate that success after a ten-year hiatus.
Avatar 2 had been previously slated for release on December 18th, 2020 but the merger could see that pushed to another spot.
