With Production set to begin on Sony Pictures Peter Rabbit sequel, the film is beginning to put together its cast.
According to Variety, Gloden Globe nominee David Oyelowo has joined returning cast members James Corden, Rose Byrne, and Domhnall Gleeson in the upcoming CGI/live-action sequel.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, as is Oyelowo’s role in the film, but according to the trade his role will not be a voice role, it will be a live-action role alongside Gleeson and Byrne.
Will Gluck is returning to write and direct the feature. Gluck will also produce through his Olive Bridge Entertainment banner, along with Animal Logic’s Zareh Nalbandian.
The first film, was a sleeper hit, grossing nearly $115 million. It held its own for months at the box office, earning 4.5 times its $25 million opening weekend box office. The film went on to gross over $350 million worldwide. Peter Rabbit became Sony Pictures highest grossing film in the United Kingdom outside of the James Bond franchise.
The film is expected to hop into theaters on February 7, 2020.
