While I sort of liked the first Escape Plan (Arnold Schwarzenegger’s supporting role had a lot to do with that) I pretty much ignored the second film Escape Plan: Hades which didn’t look terribly interesting. Well, Lionsgate dropped a new trailer for Escape Plan: The Extractors and this is more like it.

Screen legend Sylvester Stallone kicks this explosive action tale into high gear. After security expert Ray Breslin (Stallone) is hired to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a Hong Kong tech mogul from a formidable Latvian prison, Breslin’s girlfriend (Jaime King) is also captured. Now he and his team, which includes Dave Bautista and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, must pull off a deadly rescue mission to confront their sadistic foe and save the hostages before time runs out.

This sequel looks like they’re taking the action a bit more serious here with Dave Bautista kicking ass along with co-stars Harry Shum Jr. (Crazy Rich Asians) and Jin Zhang (Ip Man 3, Pacific Rim: Uprising). I also spotted that John Wick and Atomic Blonde actor Daniel Bernhardt is playing a henchman which gives me hope they’re going to deliver on the action side of things.

Stallone has Rambo: Last Blood coming out on September 20th and is currently mulling over ideas for the next Rocky movie.

Dave Bautista has seemingly finished filming his scenes for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune reboot as he’s about to take a lead role in Zack Snyder’s Netflix action horror film Army of The Dead this summer with Guardians of The Galaxy 3 expected to shoot by the end of 2020.

Escape Plan: The Extractors is coming to Digital, DVD/Blu-Ray, and Digital 4K Ultra HD on July 2nd.
