Day of The Soldado’ Actress Isabela Moner Rumored To Be Among Hopefuls For New ‘Black Widow’ Role

Our pals over at ThatHashtagShow are now saying that script rewrites on Marvel Studios’ Black Widow solo film from screenwriter Ned Benson are leading to a new young female character being added to the lineup. They mention a group of actresses possibly in the mix for this unnamed part. Those actresses include Isabela Moner, who recently starred alongside MCU actors Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro in the action thriller Sicario: Day of The Soldado.

The studio is currently compiling a list of actresses, 15-25 years old, to audition for the role. While we’d like to emphasize that it is very early in the process, we can share a handful of names in which the studio has expressed interest. Storm Reid (A Wrinkle In Time), Isabela Moner (Dora the Explorer, Transformers: The Last Knight), Camila Mendes (Riverdale) and Hannah Quinlivan (Skyscraper) are among the young talent being sought for the part.

Moner seems like the big standout out of their list of hopefuls presented here.

Other actors recently connected to the Marvel action film according to the site include Emma Watts (Harry Potter franchise, Beauty and The Beast), Rachel Weisz (The Favourite, Enemy At The Gates), Andre Holland (Castle Rock, Moonlight), Alec Baldwin (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The Departed), and Sebastian Koch (Black Book, Bridge of Spies).

Cate Shortland will be directing with a previous draft from screenwriter Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel, Vision & Scarlet Witch) that will now have rewrites from Ned Benson.

Plot details are a little murky at the moment as a previous synopsis was debunked by Black Widow’s original writer-director David Hayter, saying that information was taken from his old project from the Lionsgate incarnation from a decade ago and unlikely has any connection to the current incarnation. Also, Kevin Feige refuted online rumblings that they were considering making Widow their first R-rated MCU film during Captain Marvel press rounds.

HN Entertainment previously revealed the film’s production team will include art director Jim Barr (Star Wars: Episode IX), 2nd unit director Darrin Prescott (Black Panther, Captain America: Civil War, John Wick 1-3, Deadpool 2), and costume designer Jany Temime (Skyfall, Spectre, Gravity, Harry Potter franchise).

We also recently confirmed that Black Widow’s (working title Blue Bayou) production space will be at Pinewood Studios UK in England. Filming is said to be starting up in June.

Marvel Studios has yet to give Black Widow an official release date while it’s assumed it will be given the May 1st, 2020 spot, that been previously mapped out by Disney for an untitled Marvel movie.
