After losing Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Showtime has found a new showrunner for their upcoming Halo series.
Robin Hood director Otto Bathurst will be directing Showtime’s adaptation of the popular video game Halo in the upcoming series, the premium cable network announced.
Filming is scheduled to begin in June 2019, in Budapest, with Kyle Killen serving as the executive producer, writer and showrunner. Scott Pennington is also serving as executive producer alongside Amblin’s TV’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank. The live-action Halo series is an Amblin Television, Showtime, and Microsoft/343 Industries production.
Showtime has described the series as an “epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.”
A release date for the Halo series has not been confirmed, and overall information on its development has been kept under wraps.
