Seven Deadly Sins Seemingly Confirmed As Villains In ‘Shazam!’

Back in September 2017, OmegaUnderground first revealed an audition tape for the DC Comics movie Shazam!, where villains the Seven Deadly Sins were briefly mentioned by the Wizard and this seems to have been more than just a line reading as they are now expected to be in the film.

The two videos which feature Billy Batson first meeting the wizard Shazam starts off with a few jokes. However, at one point, the wizard mentions how he is the last of the council. For they had all been destroyed by the Seven Deadly Sins. And that earth now needed a champion to save humans from being destroyed by The Sins as well.

Our friends at SuperBroMovies have confirmed the DC Comics villains will indeed show up in the movie.

Sources have confirmed to SuperBroMovies that the Seven Deadly Sins are set to appear in DC’s Shazam!.

If you’re unfamiliar with this group, they made their first appearance in Whiz Comics #2 in 1940, the same issue that both Captain Marvel and Dr. Sivana debuted. They are seven demons who are used to represent the seven deadly sins of Judeo-Christian religions. These demons are identified by their traditional theological versions (Pride, Envy, Greed, Wrath, Sloth, Gluttony, and Lust).

There is also an expectation they’ll be showing up in the new trailer coming later this month. This would likely explain why the Shazam! family is being assembled in the movie.

Shazam! is set to be released on April 5th.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still, a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
