Deadline is reporting that Jonah Hill has now exited talks with Warner Bros. to take the Riddler/Penguin role in their upcoming Batman reboot from director Matt Reeves.
We hear that the two-time Oscar nominee is no longer in talks to play the villain in Warner Bros. reboot of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. Essentially talks broke down, which happens on big pics like these.
They also add that the studio is now interested in casting Seth Rogen for the Penguin role but are quick to point out there haven’t been any offers or even talks.
We heard that there was interest from the production in Seth Rogen for the role of the Penguin, however, but I hear no offers or talks occurred.
Seth Rogen isn’t a stranger to superhero/comic book projects as he took the lead role in the Green Hornet remake a while back based on the comic book/60s television series.
He would be an interesting casting choice since he doesn’t do a lot of non-comedies, unlike Jonah Hill.
The cast so far consists of Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale, Westworld, No Time To Die) as Police Commissioner James Gordon.
The script was co-written by Reeves and Little Fish screenwriter Mattson Tomlin.
Filming may begin next spring/summer. It has been confirmed by HN that it will shoot primarily at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England.
The studio has given The Batman a release date of June 25th, 2021.
