Back in January, HN Entertainment revealed that HBO hoped to start filming on Season 3 of Westworld sometime in March. ProductionWeekly then backed that up in February giving the show a March 25th start date. Now we have an update to share ourselves.
HN has learned that filming on Westworld Season 3 is expected to wrap on October 4th.
Primary filming will take place Melody Ranch Studio in Santa Clarita, California, and Moab, Utah
The series is showrun by Lisa Joy (Black Cat) and Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight) with J.J. Abram’s production company Bad Robot producing. Joy is expected to write and direct her feature film debut Reminiscence for Warner Bros., a romantic science fiction film starring Hugh Jackman (Logan, The Prestige) and Rebecca Ferguson (Dune, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) which will begin filming on October 21st.
HBO will be ending their biggest series Game of Thrones with it’s eight and final season, but will be continuing the fantasy franchise with spin-offs as the first one The Long Night showrun by Jane Goldman will explore the origins of the White Walkers and will have it’s full season production kick-off begin this summer at Paint Hall Studios in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
It’s assumed that the third season of Westworld will begin airing in 2020.
Created for television by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, WESTWORLD is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin — exploring a world in which every human appetite, not matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged. Exploring what it means to be human through the eyes of the lifelike AI “hosts” in the park, the series investigates the boundaries of an exotic world set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past. Meticulously crafted and artfully designed, Westworld offers its guests an unparalleled, immersive world where they have the freedom to become who they’ve always wanted to be — or who they never knew they were.
