Another interesting tidbit from San Diego Comic-Con as Black Widow’s Scarlett Johansson talked to ScreenRant about the level of action in the solo film, which she says producers told her has the most fighting in any of the MCU movies.
“Oh, yeah. There’s a lot of fighting in this movie. Like, so much fighting. Much more fighting than I think has ever… I think other producers that come onto the set, they’re like, ‘There’s more fighting in this than any other Marvel movie we’ve ever made.’ It’s just brutal. I think because it’s based in reality, all the action is based in reality and it’s a lot of hand-to-hand combat. It’s painful.”
They’re certainly trying to sell Black Widow as a straight-up action film, let’s see if that actually becomes the case after we get a glimpse of a trailer.
That statement isn’t terribly shocking in a movie with Russia’s answer to Captain America, Red Guardian, being played by David Harbour.
Along with at least three Black Widows in the film including Scarlett’s Natasha, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, and Rachel Weisz’s Melina aka Iron Maiden. It was revealed by Rachel that she is also a Black Widow in the movie and there are many of them running around, which suggests a lot more than three.
There is also Anthony Masters aka Taskmaster, who has been confirmed for the film and is known as one of the most talented hand-to-hand fighters in Marvel Comics. I’m still curious to find out who is actually playing Taskmaster in the film as it seems like a stunt person was under the mask in those Budapest scenes.
Black Widow is officially set for release on May 1st, 2020.
