TheHollywoodReporter has learned that Ready or Not actress Samara Weaving has landed the role of Scarlett in Paramount’s G.I. Joe spinoff Snake Eyes, which also acts as a reboot for the franchise leading to a third main G.I. Joe movie.
Weaving will play the key role of Scarlett, the traditionally red-haired counter-intelligence officer who was the first female figure of the revamped Joe toyline in the 1980s. The character had a unique bond with Snake Eyes and frequently partnered with him.
Weaving recently wrapped filming on Bill and Ted Face The Music playing Ted’s daughter.
I had previously reported at OmegaUnderground that filming would be taking place in Japan and it was backed-up in the report from THR.
Henry Golding (The Gentlemen, Crazy Rich Asians, Last Christmas) will play the Snake Eyes as the film will explore the origins of the G.I. Joe member before joining the team and his falling out with Storm Shadow.
Andrew Koji plays Storm Shadow, Iko Uwais plays Hard Master, and Ursula Corbero plays Baroness.
Haruka Abe and Takehiro Hira also reportedly have roles but their characters are currently undisclosed.
Filming will begin shooting tomorrow in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
HN Entertainment recently confirmed the working title will be Grackle Bird.
Snake Eyes is set to be released on October 16th, 2020.
