TheHollywoodReporter first revealed last May that a sequel to the Ryan Reynolds/Samuel L. Jackson action comedy Hitman’s Bodyguard was in development during the Cannes Film Festival. Then in November, it was revealed that Jackson, Reynolds, and Salma Hayek would be reprising their roles with director Patrick Hughes and screenwriter Tom O’Connor back as well.
Previous reports had been suggesting that filming could begin as early as March. HN Entertainment has now learned that filming is expected to begin on March 2nd and will film in various locations in Europe.
It’s expected to shoot around the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Scotland/United Kingdom and Bulgaria are other locations we’re hearing could be used for the sequel as well.
This would certainly indicate that Ryan Reynolds has a busy plate with Once Upon A Deadpool releasing next week, along with Michael Bay’s Six Underground and Legendary’s Detective Pikachu expected to drop next year. Ryan also for some reason is developing a new Clue movie with screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.
A release date for Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard could be scheduled for as early as next fall or more likely in winter/spring 2020.
The world’s top protection agent [Ryan Reynolds] is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world’s most notorious hitmen [Samuel L. Jackson]. The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their raucous and hilarious adventure from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator [Gary Oldman] who is out for blood. Salma Hayek joins the mayhem as Jackson’s equally notorious wife.
