Russo Brothers’ R-Rated Crime Flick ‘Cherry’ Starring Tom Holland Expected To Shoot In Georgia

HN Entertainment has learned that The Russo Brothers’ next directorial effort Cherry starring Tom Holland in the lead role will be shooting scenes in the state of Georgia (likely Atlanta).

Army medic Nico Walker returns home from a tour of duty with a debilitating case of undiagnosed posttraumatic stress disorder. As the soldier struggles with the life-changing effects of war, he turns to the dangerous world of opioids to subdue his mental disorder. As his addiction grows, he begins robbing banks in order to support his drug habit.

Cherry recently landed a tax credit worth $2.5 million for filming in the state of California.

It’s unknown how much of the shoot will take place on the West Coast, given the small amount of the credit would suggest only a portion will be taking place there.

The Russo Brothers will be reunited with actor Tom Holland, who was at the center of the recent drama with Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios ending their Spider-Man deal. The trio previously worked together on Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

Despite online rumblings of his departure, Tom Holland has publicly stated that he’ll be playing the Peter Parker/Spider-man role for the foreseeable future.

The directing siblings revealed at San Diego Comic-Con back in July that the film would indeed be R-rated, HN Entertainment was on hand for their panel.

Casting is currently underway for the other major roles in the film and we’ll likely hear the names of the rest of the cast very soon.

A release date for Cherry has yet to be officially announced.
