Forbes recently posted a slew of DC Comics movie rumors in their article covering the confirmation of actor Robert Pattinson in the role of Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman movie which is expected to start filming in winter/spring 2020.
Well, those rumors included that Idris Elba is most likely playing the role of Benjamin Turner aka Bronze Tiger in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which begins filming this fall.
Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman are returning to their roles from the first film alongside Idris Elba (whom I’ve heard could be playing Bronze Tiger), alongside Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, with King Shark and Peacemaker also in line to appear on the team.
This would reinforce previous fan speculation about Elba’s role in the film once it was revealed that he wouldn’t be replacing Will Smith as Deadshot, the expectation had been that he was playing Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker.
They didn’t stop there as they added that Batman rogue The Riddler and sidekick Robin (I assume a young Dick Grayson) could also be part of the character lineup for The Batman.
With multiple villains appearing in The Batman — I was told months ago that Penguin, Riddler, and possibly Catwoman are expected to appear, as well as other rogues and mobsters — and additional characters including Commissioner Gordon, Alfred, and potentially Robin, we should be hearing additional casting information soon.
I have to assume that many are taking their cues about the villains directly from this tweet posted by Reeves in early September.

Also, Robin seems a little odd if they’re attempting to go with a younger/unseasoned version of Bruce Wayne.
Keep in mind, these are only rumors at the moment and haven’t been confirmed.
The Suicide Squad is set for release on August 6th, 2021 and The Batman will be out on June 25th, 2021.
