Venom director Ruben Fleischer will be following up that massive hit with a sequel to one of his earlier films Zombieland. The project is a reunion of sorts as the original cast and even screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are back, after their own comic book film success with Deadpool and Deadpool 2.

Pre-production on Zombieland 2 has been underway for months as filming will begin next month in Atlanta. I’ve also caught wind they might be filming scenes in the state of Tenessee as well.

There is now a slight update on some key crew members working on the sequel. Our friends over at DiscussingFilm have posted a new crew update for the horror comedy sequel. They’ve seemingly added IT cinematographer Chung-Hoon Chung and production designer Martin Whist. Whist’s credits include Super 8, The Cabin In The Woods, Bad Times At The El Royale, RoboCop, and The Predator.

We can independently confirm Whist is working on the film.

Here is the synopsis for the sequel that I first posted on OmegaUnderground.

The group will face a new zombie threat as a new breed of zombie has developed. This new super-zombie type is faster, bigger, and stronger than the previous strain of zombies and harder to kill. These super-zombies have started grouping up into a horde going from city to city leaving a path of destruction behind them.

They will also encounter new human survivors that may end up just as much of a threat.

The newest additions to the cast include Zoey Deutch and Avan Jogia. Returning, of course, are original cast members Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin.

Sony Pictures has set the release date for Zombieland 2 for October 11th, 2019.
