An interesting casting rumor has popped-up on HeroicHollywood.
They suggest that Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. are looking to cast a black/biracial actress to play Selina Kyle aka Catwoman in the film, name dropping Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road) as a possible archetype for the part.
The search is officially underway for the next live-action Catwoman. The Batman director Matt Reeves is putting some feelers out to women of color for the role of the femme fatale alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman. One source tells us Matt Reeves wants a Zoe Kravitz-type actress to play Catwoman, meaning whoever is cast will likely be Black or biracial.
To me, it sounds like a bit of a nod to the Eartha Kitt version of the character, Reeves being a big fan of the original Adam West series. On Drunk History, Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson played Kitt’s Catwoman.
Mentioning Kravitz is interesting since she was passed over for a role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, which went to Juno Temple instead.
There was also some hint from Collider’s Jeff Sneider that Matt Reeves might be looking to cast a black actor to play Police Commissioner Jim Gordon too.
Robert Pattinson will be playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in the film.
Filming will begin sometime next year and is set for release on June 25th, 2021.
