Rumor Suggests ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 5’ Set During The Cold War and Will Be Boots On The Ground

If a recent rumor concerning the next Call of Duty installment in 2020 is correct, COD fans will be getting another period game with boots on the ground gameplay.

There had been previous reports that Treyarch would be taking over development on the next Call of Duty game from Sledgehammer Games and it would be the fifth installment in Black Ops franchise.

Well, some potential details were recently shared by LongSensation, which has posted some accurate COD information in the past. In their Twitter post, they revealed the game would likely take place during the height of the Cold War featuring conflicts like the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Set during the Cold War. Spans the entire 40+ years and incs Vietnam and Korean War. Described as even more gritty and gruesome than Modern Warfare.

This would certainly bring the franchise back to the roots of the original Black Ops campaign which took place during the 1960s.

We will have to wait and see how accurate this is but with fandom buzzing about the 2019 release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare it might be smart on Activision’s part to get rid of the futuristic gameplay mechanics that seem to have bored some of the fanbase.
