Black Widow is the next Marvel Studios movie to go into production with director Cate Shortland, star Scarlett Johansson, and a script from Captain Marvel screenwriter Jac Schaeffer. They’re seemingly well into the pre-production phase as they’re already developing concept art and storyboards, also assembling the film’s production crew and casting on the horizon.
Our pals at DiscussingFilm are now saying they might have already found a cinematographer with Rob Hardy.
Hardy’s credits include Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Ex Machina, Annihilation, Euphoria, Shadow Dancer, Red Riding Hood: The Year of Our Lord 1974, and Alex Garland’s upcoming series Devs.
I had previously mentioned at OmegaUnderground over the summer that Red Sparrow production designer Maria Djurkovic might have been hired over the summer as well for Black Widow. Although, both Maria and Rob are unconfirmed for the film they do share the same agency.
Interesting enough, Hardy worked on Ex Machina and Euphoria that starred Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander. There is a good chance that the Jason Bourne/Tomb Raider actress ends up in the mix for the role of a “female Bond” type supporting character that is said to be out to actresses at the moment. The Swedish actress recently saw her Tomb Raider screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet nab credit on the upcoming Captain Marvel movie.
Black Widow is said to begin filming early next year and is likely going to nab their May 2020 release date slot. Marvel Studios hasn’t made anything official concerning the project.
