A new rumor coming from our pals at TheDisinider suggests that Marvel Studios is circling back to Kubo and The Two Strings and Bumblebee director Travis Knight to potentially direct Guardians of The Galaxy 3.
Production, release date, and news have all been delayed due to the debacle of Gunn’s firing. However, we here at The DisInsider have learned, from a very close source, that Travis Knight (Kubo And The Two Strings/The Bumblebee Movie) is a name being looked at to helm the third installment.
Knight was on the studios shortlist to direct The Eternals, before the gig went to Chloe Zhao.
Knight had been previously reported to be in the mix to direct The Eternals before Chloe Zhao landed the gig. Zhao herself had been in the mix for Black Widow before getting The Eternals, so this sort of could be a similar situation.
Travis Knight certainly has the chops to develop the characters we already have and give us new ones. If he can give new life to the Transformers franchise as there is an extremely strong buzz surrounding Bumblebee, Marvel fans should be very excited for this to come together.
At the moment we don’t have any concrete details on when Guardians of The Galaxy 3 could begin shooting or when they want the film to be released. However, there is an extremely good chance James Gunn’s script will undergo rewrites.
