Last year, Ansel Elgort confirmed to MTVNews that he has read a script for Baby Driver 2 written by Edgar Wright and knows what the title is.
MTV: The last time I spoke to you in Vegas was Baby Driver. Edgar said that there’s a draft that exists of the sequel. Has he shared it with you?
ELGORT: “Yes. [Laughs] He has shared it with me.”
“Yes, I think it’s going to happen. I think there will be a Baby Driver 2. It has a different title, actually. You’re gonna have to have to ask Edgar that, though”
It now looks like Baby Driver 2 is a go at Sony Pictures according to a new post this from Daniel Richtman on his Patreon page.
As expected, the post also claims that Ansel Elgort and Lily James are returning to their respective roles.
Elgort recently starred in Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story and began shooting the HBO Max crime series Tokyo Vice with Michael Mann directing the pilot/first episode.
Wright has been busy too with his psychological horror film Last Night In Soho starring Anya Taylor-Joy and is set to be released on September 18th.
Sony Pictures hasn’t officially announced Baby Driver 2 is happening, so a release date has yet to be revealed.
Are you excited that Baby Driver 2 might be coming together?
Baby, a music-loving orphan also happens to be the prodigiously talented go-to getaway driver for heist mastermind Doc. With the perfect soundtrack picked out for each and every job, Baby ensures Doc’s violent, bank-robbing cronies – including Buddy, Bats and Darling – get in and out of Dodge before it’s too late. He’s not in it for the long haul though, hoping to nail one last job before riding off into the sunset with beautiful diner waitress Debora. Easier said than done.
