In February, we first revealed that Aquaman cinematographer Don Burgess was expected to shoot Robert Zemeckis’ remake of the 1990 film The Witches, which is based on the Roald Dahl novel of the same name. We can now confirm that Burgess will work on the film and we have a couple of other addition to the film’s production team to share as well.
HN Entertainment has learned that they’ve added Tomb Raider production designer Gary Freeman and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker art director Claire Fleming (Terminator: Dark Fate, Tomb Raider, Star Wars: The Force Awakens).
The new film is set in Georgia during 1969 and will star Oscar winners Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar) as the Grand High Witch and Octavia Spencer (Snowpiecer, The Shape of Water) as the grandmother to the film’s protagonist played by Jahzir Bruno.
Filming is set to take place mainly at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in England.
Warner Bros. has set the release of The Witches for October 16th, 2020.
