The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is now taking his comic book projects to big studios as he’s now looking towards feature films. Deadline reports that Robert Kirkman and Lorzeno De Felici’s Oblivion Song published by Image Comics will be developed into a feature film by Skybound Entertainment and Universal Pictures.
A script is being penned by Sean O’Keefe who is co-writing a Green Hornet reboot with director Gavin O’Connor.
Skybound Entertainment and Universal Pictures said Tuesday they are developing Oblivion Song, a movie based on Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici’s sci-fi comic book series. Sean O’Keefe, who penned the upcoming Peter Berg-Mark Wahlberg pic Wonderland, will write the script.
The story takes place one decade after 300,000 residents of Philadelphia suddenly were trapped in Oblivion. Frantic recovery efforts were launched by the government, but, after a few futile years, they were abandoned. Nathan Cole, however, hasn’t given up. He risks his life, again and again, trying to save those lost souls in Oblivion’s apocalyptic hellscape – but is that the real reason he can’t resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?
I’m curious what the budget this project would end up having, but I’m it’ll depend on when they want to release it and what director they’ll ultimately land.
