A new report from TuslaWorld has revealed that Robert De Niro is expected to take the role of William Hale in Martin Scorsese’s next feature film Killers of The Flower Moon that already has Leonardo DiCaprio set to star.
The two actors had once worked together on the 1993 drama This Boy’s Life, as Robert played Leo’s abusive stepfather.
Set in 1920s Oklahoma, where the Osage Indians were granted revenue rights to oil discovered under their lands that was harvested by oil companies. Suddenly, they began to get murdered as did those trying to investigate. It came down to the newly created Bureau of Investigation, to overcome the corrupting influences from oil money and politics to solve the murder mystery, one that would bring the FBI to prominence.
Martin met with Osage Nation’s Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear where they discussed how the Osage Nation could help with the production of the film.
Standing Bear said Friday’s meeting was the fourth with members of the film team but the first with Scorsese, who said he had not been to Oklahoma before. Scorsese, according to Standing Bear, said Robert DeNiro agreed to play the character of William Hale, one of the main characters in the book.
Pre-production is also said to start this November, with a spring/summer production start in 2020.
The bulk of pre-production for “Killers of the Flower Moon” is expected to occur in November, with filming projected for the spring and summer of 2020.
Robert and Marty recently worked together on the Netflix gangster film The Irishman, which is set to be released this fall.
Paramount Pictures is set to distribute the film, which I assume would get a release in the fall/winter of 2020.
