Awakening’?

We just learned from Ridley Scott while speaking with TheHollywoodReporter that there are still ongoing discussions with 20th Century Fox/Disney for more Alien films.

Well, Variety added an interesting and sneaky tidbit to their Alien 40th Anniversary feature article revealing that Ridley Scott is attached to direct a third untitled Alien prequel and is currently being written. Details aren’t being revealed as it’s only offhandedly mentioned in the article and they don’t name this screenwriter (could it be Michael Green?).

A third prequel, which he will direct, is in the script phase.

Whether this project ends up becoming Alien: Awakening remains to be seen, but the chances are really good if it’s being referred to as a prequel. It would mean that we’ll see the return of Michael Fassbender as David along with Alien: Covenant’s Katherine Waterson as Daniels and Danny McBride as Tennessee, that’s unless Ridley kills them off-screen.

Michael Fassbender recently commented to BadTaste he’d “love” to reprise the role and work with Ridley Scott again during an interview to promote Dark Phoenix.

We’ve known for months that there had been ongoing talks with Emma Watts (now overseeing 20th Century Fox for Disney) and Scott after the release of Alien: Covenant, where the franchise could be going next as revealed by former 20th Century Fox studio head Stacey Snider.

It doesn’t sound like it would be ready to go anytime soon as Scott is expected to direct his young Merlin film for Disney next. However, Scott is known to put together films quickly and shoot them back-to-back with little rest.
