Previous talk of Rami Malek taking the villain role in Bond 25 via Variety has seemingly come together as Collider now reports that the actor, who recently won the Best Actor Oscar is now in final talks to join the spy flick.
Sources tell Collider, however, that Malek’s team at WME has successfully negotiated his shooting schedule to accommodate both productions. There is no deal quite yet, but one is expected to make — the sides just wanted to wait and see whether Malek would win the Oscar, which would, of course, raise his quote.
Collider also supports reporting from TheDailyMail that producers are indeed interested in casting fellow Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther, 12 Years A Slave, Us) for a role, which might be the female MI6 Agent that has been rumored for a couple of months now. TheDailyMail had previously confirmed that actors such as Lea Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw would be returning for the sequel as well.
Variety adds that American actor Billy Magnussen (Velvet Buzzsaw, Aladdin) is being eyed for the role of a CIA Agent.
Sources indicate that Billy Magnussen is the top choice to play the CIA operative that crosses paths with Bond, though it’s not known if an actual offer is on the table.
Filming will primarily take place at Pinewood Studios UK with other filming locations to include Norway and Italy.
Bond 25’s release date was recently pushed to April 8th, 2020.
