In a brief primer for EmpireMagazine‘s No Time To Die coverage, producer Barbara Broccoli revealed that the name of the Bond villain played by Oscar-winner Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody, Mr. Robot) will be Safin.
“We’ve thrown the book at him on this one,” teases Barbara Broccoli in an exclusive report from Empire’s upcoming 2020 Preview Issue – and by ‘the book’, she means Rami Malek’s Safin.
BROCCOLI: “He is really the supervillain. He’s the one that really gets under Bond’s skin. He’s a nasty piece of work.”
Hopefully, we’ll get more character details in the full coverage of the film.
Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
The rest of the cast will include Lea Seydoux, Rami Malek, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld), Ralph Fiennes (The King’s Man), Naomie Harris, Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Ben Whishaw, Billy Magnussen, Rory Kinnear, David Dencik, and Dali Benssalah.
With Bond retired, Lashana Lynch’s character Nomi has taken over the 007 codename.
Spectre’s Christoph Waltz is also coming back as the notorious Blofeld.
Production on the film wrapped last week and we should be getting a trailer sometime in the near future.
Daniel Craig’s tenure is going to end with this upcoming release and development on Bond 26 is reportedly in the works with screenwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
No Time To Die is set to be released on April 8th, 2020.
