Since Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s been almost five years since audiences said goodbye to Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver. Gifted with superhuman speed, Pietro served as a test subject for HYDRA testing the Mind Stone’s energies. Eventually this allegiance to HYDRA transferred to helping Ultron, until he and his sister realized they were being manipulated.

Going by the codename of Quicksilver, Pietro had good chemistry with Hawkeye before his sacrifice. This sacrifice was frustrating to some fans as they believed the film’s plot introduced a means to “save” him. In truth it did, and a version of the ending was reportedly filmed which included both Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch together as Avengers. Unfortunately, a decision was made to truly sacrifice the character and he hasn’t been seen since.

Fans were hoping a change of fate could happen as series such as WandaVision, What If…?, and even Loki open the door for multiverse alterations. Vision is technically deceased in the current timeline making the idea of Pietro’s returning believable. However, the actor himself during an interview with Screen Rant revealed otherwise:

“I think we’re both open to possibilities, like the Marvel Universe like it has been over the years, but obviously yes, I’m aware of the Disney+ platform and all of the shows that are going and I’m still in touch with a lot of the people. I mean, I think it’s safe to say that no, I’m not gonna… there will be no appearance of me coming out or Quicksilver appearing anytime soon.”

While his words sound definite, it’s very possible he’s lying or that he could appear during a season 2 for What If…? Kevin Feige is known to revisit characters from previous MCU movies if it serves well for a story. With reality manipulation set to appear in both WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness the possibilities are endless.
