In 2017, Deadline first reported that that Maze Runner director Wes Ball would be tackling a feature film based on the Mouse Guard graphic novel for 20th Century Fox with Matt Reeves producing.
A brotherhood of mice are sworn to help their fellow mice. A live-action feature adaptation of David Petersen’s graphic novel, published by Archaia.
It looks like pre-production on Mouse Guard is well underway.
We have been able to confirm that production designer Daniel Dorrance has been hired for Wes Ball’s Mouse Guard movie. Dorrance’s credits production design credits include action films like Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, The Expendables 3, and A Good Day To Die Hard.
As an art director, Daniel worked on projects such as Saving Private Ryan, The Incredible Hulk, Collateral, Mission: Impossible II, Mission: Impossible III, and We Were Soldiers.
ThatHashtagShow previously reported that Mouse Guard is eyeing a production start this January and will take place in Los Angeles, California. Alien: Covenant’s Dante Harper has turned in a rewrite of an original draft penned by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ‘s Gary Whitta.
It’s said to be using similar motion-capture technology seen used in the Planet of The Apes movies, which likely means Weta Digital/Weta Workshop could get involved to handle the film’s visual effects.
20th Century Fox has yet to give Mouse Guard an official release date.
