Phase 4 Contract Details For Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chadwick Boseman, and Benedict Cumberbatch – Scarlett Making $20M For ‘Black Widow’

TheHollywoodReporter recently broke down some of the contract details for Marvel actors continuing into Phase 4 which include Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chadwick Boseman, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

MINOR SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: ENDGAME AHEAD.

First, Scarlett Johansson is getting a big payday with $20 million to produce and star in the solo Black Widow film that is expected to begin filming this June at Pinewood Studios UK with her co-stars reportedly to include Rachel Weisz, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and O-T Fagbenle. It’s expected that Black Widow will land a release date of May 1st, 2020, but hasn’t been made official.

Take the fate of Scarlett Johansson, aka Black Widow. Her story arc is definitive in Endgame, but the actress who plays the spy heroine will be returning for a 2020 stand-alone film, earning a figure in the $20 million range for both starring and producing.

After having showing up in multiple Marvel films including their own solo films Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman and Doctor Strange’s Benedict Cumberbatch only have one more film on their option, which means they’ll have to re-negotiate once they completed their upcoming sequels that will be released during Phase 4.

Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) have one more option apiece, which will result in sequels to their solo movies, say sources.

Chris Hemsworth, like Scarlett, is due for a payday as well between $15-20 million and getting ready for “the next phase of films”, which likely means James Gunn’s Guardians of The Galaxy 3 and possibly Thor 4. Although the latter is most likely going to have Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie leading with it centered around New Asgard. Another possibility could be The Eternals, but that is the least likely of three.

Not technically Phase 4, but still part of the canon of the MCU, actors for the Disney+ series have signed separate deals as well.

Part of Marvel’s next phase includes the segueing of many characters to their own series on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+. Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) negotiated deals that are separate from the movie contracts for what sources say will be six to eight episodes.

Marvel’s Asian-American led superhero flick Shang-Chi is expected to be the next Phase 4 film to go into production after The Eternals, which likely means they’ll get that casting underway around summer/fall and Marvel could announce the actors at San Diego Comic-Con/D23 Expo.
