We’ve now finally learned what the true name of The Mandalorian thanks to the actor that plays him, Pedro Pascal.
The Mandalorian’s true name is Dyn Jarren according to Pascal (via ScreenSlam).
PASCAL: “The Mandalorian, whose name is Dyn Jarren, is your iconically cool, flawed, mysterious lone/loner gunslinger that harkens to the best of the samurai movies and westerns.”
He also reveals that writer/producer Jon Favreau told him to prepare by watching movies from Sergio Leone and Akira Kurosawa to get ready to play this type of character, which is assumingly inspired by the main characters from their films (the lone gunslinger/swordsman).
PASCAL: “In talking with Jon [Favreau], I was asking him what I should be looking at? I know he loves movies, I love movies…He immediately brought-up Sergio Leone and Akira Kurosawa.”
He’s not the only cast member to shed some light on their Star Wars character, as Emily Swallow, who plays the Armorer and the leader of their Mandalorian clan/tribe dished details recently as well.
SWALLOW: “The covert leader of a Mandalorian clan in hiding, she’s held in the highest esteem and is regarded as the keeper of the old traditions of Mandalore. She is an expert in Beskar foundry work and will help The Mandalorian repair and improve his armor. And she knows more than she lets on…”
I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the pair’s true intentions are in the series.
The first episode of The Mandalorian is ready to be streamed on Disney+.
