Production recently wrapped on Wonder Woman 1984, but that hasn’t stopped director Patty Jenkins from thinking about the possibilities of a third film.
Jenkins sat down with Vanity Fair to discuss her new TV project, I am the Night, which also stars Chris Pine and the talk turned to Jenkins future projects. One of which being a third film in the Wonder Woman franchise.
“I have pretty clear plans for Wonder Woman 3,” said Jenkins. “Whether I [direct] it or not, I see how her arc should end in my incarnation of Wonder Woman. I have great passion for that.”
As long as the upcoming sequel is at least a similar hit as the first film, which grossed over $800 million at the worldwide box office the chances of Wonder Woman getting a third film are very high. While we wait for Wonder Woman 1984 which is currently in post production, official details on a third film will remain slim.
Directed by Jenkins with a script provided by herself and Geoff Johns, Wonder Woman 1984 will follow Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman (Gadot) who comes into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1980s.
The film also stars Chris Pine, Kristen Wigg, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.
Wonder Woman 1984 will hit theaters on June 5, 2020.
