Paramount’s ‘Infinite’ Directed By Antoine Fuqua and Possibly Starring Chris Evans Eyes August Production Start

Last month, Deadline reported that Captain America and Avengers actor Chris Evans was in negotiations with Paramount Pictures to lead a new film titled Infinite that is based on the novel The Reincarnationist Papers by D. Eric Maikranz, that already has Equalizer director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer) attached to helm.

Screenwriters John Lee Hancock and Ian Shorr have adapted the original novel into a script.

The novel revolves around Evan Michaels, a man who was haunted by memories of two past lives and stumbles upon a centuries-old secret society of similar individuals who make up the Cognomina (aka The Infinite), a secret society of people who possess total recall of their past lives and whose members have been agents of change throughout history. He seeks to join their ranks.

Haunted by memories of two past lives, a troubled young man struggles to survive on LA’s seamy underbelly.  Recounted in three notebooks, Evan Michaels details the loneliness of his unique existence, his discovery of another like him and his eventual acceptance into the secret Cognomina.

HN Entertainment has learned that Paramount Pictures is now potentially seeking an August production start for Infinite (possibly in the United Kingdom), which could suggest that filming might be finished around November-December.

Los Angeles and Rome are locations in the original novel which might mean those could also end up filming locations as well.

It’s certainly an interesting IP for Paramount to get involved with as I suspect they are banking on a franchise starter here, which would explain why they wanted Chris Evans for this lead role.

Evans recently took a role in Rian Johnson’s crime thriller Knives Out and exited from STX’s Greenland as did director Neill Blomkamp. His next big feature, of course, is the massive Marvel Studios film Avengers: Endgame which releases on April 26th and is expected to debut with a record-breaking domestic opening weekend.

Paramount Pictures has yet to give Infinite an official release date.
