Paramount’s ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ Movie Will Indeed Shoot In England

HN Entertainment has now learned from local sources that Paramount Pictures is indeed planning on shooting their upcoming live-action Dungeons and Dragons (based on the fantasy pen and paper tabletop game) movie in England.

I originally reported the fantasy film’s potential United Kingdom filming location back in March 2018 on OmegaUnderground (original article archived at GWW), but it wasn’t 100% at the time and given Chris McKay’s eventually exit to focus on Chris Pratt’s action flick Ghost Draft (also at Paramount Pictures) seemed like that locale could eventually change with new directors.

Game Night directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein had been hired to take over for McKay. The pair had been previously attached to direct The Flash movie for Warner Bros. before they exited from the DC Comics project.

It now looks like they’ll be sticking with the England shoot after all.

Dungeons and Dragons has been previously adapted as a cartoon series and back in 2000 a live-action movie starring Jeremy Irons and Marlon Wayans. It’ll be interesting to see if they’ll attempt a comedic edge to it similar to Sony Pictures’ Jumanji sequels.

Given the film’s release date of November 18th, 2021 filming likely won’t begin until sometime in 2020.
