The iconic lime green slime seen on Nickelodeon for over 20 years is getting it own movie. Yes, you heard that correctly.
According to Deadline, Paramount Players has acquired Slime, which is said to be an family action-adventure film.
Writing duo Steve Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine) and Jeff Morris (True Memoirs of an International Assassin) will work on the script, with Pink set to take on the directing duties. Additional details on the film are being kept under-wraps.
Paramount Players is on a roll adapting IP from sister company Nickelodeon as the company is currently working on film adaptations of Dora The Explorer, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and a live-action adaptation of the hit cartoon Rugrats.
Slime made its debut on You Can’t Do That on Television, a Canadian sketch show that aired from 1979-1990. Nickelodeon recognized the crazy popularity of the You Can’t Do That On Television slime fests, and it integrated the idea into the 1986 trivia game show Double Dare, and is still a staple to the network to this day.
