It looks like we finally have a third cast member for the Loki series alongside Tom Hiddleston and actress Sophia Di Martino, Sophia is rumored to be playing Lady Loki.
An unconfirmed report from ComicBook is claiming that comedic actor Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers, The Royal Tenenbaums, Zoolander) has taken an undisclosed role in the upcoming Loki series from Marvel Studios and set to air next year on Disney+.
Loki has added Owen Wilson to the cast in a major role, ComicBook.com has learned, although the character which Wilson will be playing is being kept under wraps.
UPDATE: Deadline, TheHollywoodReporter, and Variety have now confirmed the original reporting from ComicBook.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see what character Wilson is going to be playing in the series, also, if he’ll be playing friend or foe.
Loki has control of the Tesseract (thanks to a hiccup in Avengers: Endgame) and is expected to jump between different eras in human history, a piece of concept artwork showed Loki in the streets of New York City during 1975.
The series is prepping to begin production in Atlanta, Georgia and will have direct implications for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, as confirmed by Marvel’s Kevin Feige that the Disney+ shows will be the first to interlink with the feature films.
We should assume that Loki might not only be able to time-travel but also have access to the Multiverse, given the Lady Loki rumor.
There is a good shot that characters introduced in both WandaVision and Loki could make the jump to the big screen in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel.
I’m curious to see if Loki will lead directly into Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love & Thunder as well.
Kate Herron is set to direct the Marvel series.
Other MCU shows expected to shoot in 2020 include Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms Marvel.
