An interesting tidbit of potential casting news has dropped on Daniel Richtman‘s Patreon page as Oscar-winning actors Charlize Theron (Bombshell, Mad Max: Fury Road, Prometheus) and Sam Rockwell (Iron Man 2, Moon, Three Billboards) according to a casting grid are attached to star in a new Netflix movie titled Tribe.
They’re currently seeking a 17-year old actress for a lead role.
Music video director Romain Gavras is set to direct here are some examples of his work below, warning some of the music videos are controversial in nature.
Tribe is being described as George Miller’s Mad Max meets Stephen King’s Stand By Me, which is certainly an interesting mix of films.
MAD MAX: In a not-too-distant dystopian future, when man’s most precious resource — oil — has been depleted and the world plunged into war, famine and financial chaos, the last vestiges of the law in Australia attempt to restrain a vicious biker gang. Max (Mel Gibson), an officer with the Main Force Patrol, launches a personal vendetta against the gang when his wife (Joanne Samuel) and son are hunted down and murdered, leaving him with nothing but the instincts for survival and retribution.
STAND BY ME: After learning that a stranger has been accidentally killed near their rural homes, four Oregon boys decide to go see the body. On the way, Gordie Lachance (Wil Wheaton), Vern Tessio (Jerry O’Connell), Chris Chambers (River Phoenix) and Teddy Duchamp (Corey Feldman) encounter a mean junk man and a marsh full of leeches, as they also learn more about one another and their very different home lives. Just a lark at first, the boys’ adventure evolves into a defining event in their lives.
Charlize Theron recently shot Neftlix’s The Old Guard, a comic book film about a group of immortals.
We’ll have to wait to get more information on this project as it didn’t have a synopsis attached.
