Oscar-Winner Halle Berry Joins Roland Emmerich’s Disaster Film ‘Moonfall’

The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively revealed that X-Men and John Wick: Chapter 3 actress Halle Berry has taken a role in Liongate’s upcoming science-fiction disaster film Moonfall, directed and co-written by Roland Emmerich.

Berry will play an astronaut turned NASA administrator whose previous mission holds a clue to the catastrophe.

Roland is best known for Stargate, Universal Soldier, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, and the two Independence Day films.

Moonfall sees its plot go into action when the moon is knocked from its orbit by a mysterious force and is on a collision course with Earth. Life as we know it hangs in the balance and with just weeks to go before impact, a ragtag team is sent on a seemingly impossible mission to land on the lunar surface and save humanity.

The director wrote the film alongside Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen.

Halle most recently appeared in John Wick: Chapter 3 and we expect her to return as Sofia in John Wick: Chapter 4 which has seen it’s production delayed until Keanu Reeves finishes up on Matrix 4 for Warner Bros. and they can begin the pre-production process.

She won her Best Actress Oscar for her performance in the drama Monster’s Ball back in 2002.

Filming on Moonfall is said to begin sometime in the fall if all goes to plan with a North American release in 2021.
