A new casting report suggests that Daniel Craig might have a fellow Star Wars actor might be joining him for Bond 25. The report comes from Baz Bamigboye a stage theatre/entertainment reporter for TheDailyMail with a strong record for breaking Bond stories, including a recent one while speaking with director Cary Joji Fukunaga confirming that Lea Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw would be reprising their roles.

His latest tidbit is that Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave) is now on producers’ radar for a key role in the film. However, it would depend on her availability to be able to join Bond 25.  There is also a brief mention of a rumor that Emma Stone is also wanted, which would make sense given her recent Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for The Favourite and her decent British accent.

007 producer Barbara Broccoli and Cary Joji Fukunaga, director of Bond 25, have been wooing Lupita Nyong’o to join Daniel Craig in the next adventure in the Ian Fleming franchise that’s now in pre-production. It’s a fact that they want the actress, who won an Oscar for Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave and plays Wakandan spy Nakia in Ryan Coogler’s box-office and cultural phenomenon Black Panther — a best picture Oscar contender on Sunday. But whether she is available remains to be seen.

I mentioned a rumour about Emma Stone being in Bond 25 and an executive out here dismissed it as nonsense.

Interesting note, Daniel Craig played a Stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens while Lupita played Maz Kanata, so there is a connection of sorts.

The role in question isn’t mentioned but there were two female roles expected to be cast in the film a while back which included a femme fatale villain, of course, along with a possible MI6 protege/007 Agent. Lupita has played a spy before in Marvel Studios’ billion-dollar hit Black Panther (nominated for Best Picture), so she’s shown that she can handle these type of action projects.

Her latest film is Jordan Peele’s horror film Us, which is set for release on March 22nd.

Bond 25 is also reportedly undergoing some rewrites from Bourne Ultimatum screenwriter Scott Z. Burns according to ThePlaylist and officially moved its release date to April 8th, 2020.
